Handling birds of prey lesson in Deva

Ever since Marco Polo told stories about how birds of prey were used for hunting at Kublai Khan's court, any knight imagined himself with the bird on his shoulder, on a mountain crest, under the clearest sky in this world.

This experience will give you the opportunity to get close to the birds and to control them. You will be able to learn more about birds of prey and practice training in several flight launching sessions. The coach will show you how to approach and handle the birds; how to launch them from your arm and how to bring them back.

Your arm is protected from the bird's claws by a special glove, made from several layers of thick leather. On its head, the prey bird is wearing a specific 'helmet', which prevents it from seeing and, therefore, keeps it calm.
